Mushrooms were always part of the picture.
Before Earthly Aura existed, I already believed in functional mushrooms. I had seen how mushrooms were used in wellness, from mushroom coffee to daily supplements focused on resilience and balance. That belief came long before skincare entered the conversation.
What I did not fully understand at the time was how powerful mushroom extracts could be for skin when applied topically.
When I began building a skincare brand, the approach was skin led. I wanted to understand how skin actually functions over time. How it responds to stress, environment, and routine. That meant reading scientific studies, reviewing INCI lists, and questioning why so many clean skincare products rely on ingredients that offer short term effects only.
Mushrooms stayed in the background at first.
Then a simple question changed everything. If mushrooms can support the body internally, what happens when mushroom extracts are applied directly to the skin.
That question became the turning point.
I began researching mushroom skincare properly. Not trend articles. Peer reviewed studies. Dermatology research. Brands using mushroom extracts with purpose rather than decoration. Compounds like beta glucans and ergothioneine kept appearing in the data, linked to antioxidant support, barrier repair, and skin resilience.
The evidence was consistent.
Functional mushrooms such as shiitake showed clear benefits for stressed skin. Not dramatic surface changes. Supportive effects that strengthen the skin barrier and help skin cope better over time. That distinction matters when you care about long term skin health rather than instant results.
This is where belief met proof.
That process was shaped by the early decisions and pauses described in
the early Earthly Aura journey, where slowing down and reassessing values became essential to building the brand properly.
After reassessing multiple skincare brands and cross checking their claims against legitimate scientific studies, the direction became obvious. Mushroom skincare was not an addition to the formula. It was the foundation the brand had been moving toward from the start.
Once the process became beauty biologist led, mushrooms became non negotiable. Every ingredient choice had to support skin biology. If an extract did not contribute to barrier function, hydration balance, or cellular resilience, it did not stay in the formula.
Mushrooms consistently met that standard.
There was also a sustainability layer. Mushrooms grow efficiently and require fewer resources. Mushroom extracts can be effective without being harsh on the skin. That aligns with conscious skincare values and responsible formulation.
Mushroom skincare does not rely on instant transformation. It supports skin gradually. Quietly. Over time. That mirrors how healthy skin actually behaves when it is supported rather than pushed.
Earthly Aura is built on that belief. One that existed before the brand had a name, and one that became stronger through research and testing.
Mushrooms were never a trend choice.
They were always the direction.
